First Minister Rhodri Morgan toured one of north Wales's most popular outdoor recreation centres on Friday, 20 June 2008 when he visited the Forestry Commission Wales complex at Coed-y-Brenin, near Dolgelllau.
Mr Morgan was briefed on the vital economic role played by the centre, which attracts in excess of 120,000 visitors annually and makes a significant contribution to the local economy, when he met Forest District Manager Ruth Jenkins at the venue.
At the heart of the complex lies the stunning circular visitor centre, which was designed to sit comfortably in its woodland surroundings and was sustainably built using local materials and sawn timber from the Coed y Brenin site itself. The centre is heated by a 117kW Binder wood chip boiler installed by Wood Energy in March 2007.
